What you pack for the mountains depends on the season, but there are essentials that should never be missing: comfortable shoes with good grip, layered clothing, and a waterproof jacket, as the weather can change quickly.
For winter
Don’t forget gloves, a hat, and footwear suitable for snow.
For summer
Sun protection, sunglasses, and insect repellent are just as important, especially if you’re planning long hikes.
Other essentials
A small backpack for day trips, a reusable bottle and, if your accommodation doesn’t include it, a headlamp for evening walks or to move around comfortably in rural houses with limited outdoor lighting.
